I sometimes feel grateful that we are leading a vegan lifestyle at a time when alternatives are readily available, and communities such as Vegan Outreach India exist where it’s really easy to get/share amazing recipes. We don’t have to miss out on anything. Here is one of my hit lunch/dinner tofu recipes, an alternative to Rawa fish fry.
Ingredients
- 250 g tofu
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp lime juice
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 2 tbsp millet rawa/rawa
- Optional:
- 1 Seaweed sheet/1 tbsp furikake (seaweed flakes)
- Oil for grilling & marinating
Instructions
- Chop the tofu into long & broad skewer style shapes & pierce the tofu with a fork.
- Marinate the tofu in red chili powder, turmeric, salt, lime juice & oil.
- It’s best to marinate tofu overnight or at least for an hour.
- You can also marinate the tofu with seaweed or coat the edges with seaweed.
- Coat the marinated tofu in rawa (semolina) of your choice and pan fry.
- Dish out the hot crispy tofu and spritz with some fresh lime juice and coriander.
- Once well-done, drizzle it with lime juice while still hot. Enjoy!
