Ingredients:

  1. 250g tofu cubes
  2. ½ cup vegan hung curd
  3. ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  4. 1 tsp red chili powder
  5. ½ tsp cumin seeds powder
  6. ¼ tsp garam masala
  7. ¼ tsp kasuri methi
  8. 1 tsp besan
  9. 1 tsp mustard oil
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 2 onions
  12. 2 capsicum

Process:

In a bowl, add 1/2 cup vegan hung curd, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chili powder, salt to taste, 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp jeera powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala, 1/4 tsp Kasuri methi, 1 tsp besan, and 1 tsp mustard oil.

Make a paste that is smooth and lump free.

Add in the tofu cubes, onions, and capsicum. Toss it all and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Thread the tofu cubes, capsicum, and onion on skewer sticks.

Place this on a hot tawa and cook till it’s lightly brown on both sides. To give a smoky and charred flavor, cook this over the fire by rotating it 3-4 times until char-grilled.

Remove the cubes to a Plate. Serve hot with mint chutney and sliced/ pickled onions. You can drizzle some vegan ghee/ butter on top of it to make it extra fancy.

Tips:

  1. Use firm tofu
  2. Hung curd is very thick curd. You must strain the excess water from the curd using a cotton cloth. Put the vegan curd in the cotton cloth, tie it, hang it somewhere, and let the water get collected in the bowl. The collected thick curd in the cloth is the hung curd.
